Dalia Upma

Ingredient                                       Quantity

Broken Wheat (Dalia)                    1½ cup
Asafoetida (Hing)                           ½ tsp
Mustard seeds                               1 tsp
Cumin seeds                                  1 tsp
Dry red chillies                                4-5 no.
Ginger chopped                             1 tbsp.
Green chilli chopped                      2-3 no.
Chana dal                                      1 Tsp
Urad dal                                         1 Tsp
Curry leaves                                  10-12 no.
Onion chopped                              1 no.
Roasted Peanuts                           2-3 tbsp
Tomato chopped                            1 no.
Carrot cut in to small cube (Boiled) 1 no. (Small)
Cauliflower cut into small florets (Boiled) 1 cup
French Beans cut into small cube (Boiled) 6-8 no.
Green Peas (Boiled)                      ¼ cup
Salt                                                to taste
Turmeric powder                           1 tsp
Coriander chopped                       2 tbsp
Lemon juice                                  ¼ No.
Oil                                                for cooking

Method:
1. Take hot water in a bowl, add Dalia, mix well and keep it aside for ½ n hours.
2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in kadai, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and dry red chillies, mix
well and sauté till seeds splutter.
3. Add ginger chopped, green chilli chopped, mix well and sauté for 30 sec.
4. Add urad dal and chana dal, mix well and sauté till urad dal is brown in color.
5. Add curry leaves and mix well.
6. Add chopped onion, mix well and sauté for 1 min.
7. Add roasted peanut and chopped tomatoes, mix well and sauté for 1 min.
8. Add salt and turmeric powder, mix well and sauté for 2 min.
9. Add Carrot, cauliflower, french beans, green peas, mix well and sauté for 1 min.
10. Remove little water from soaked Dalia and Add to the pan, mix well and cook until the water
dries up and broken wheat becomes soft, keep stirring in between.
11. Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
12. Remove in serving plates, garnish with coriander leaves and Lemon slice and serve hot.
