Recipe Description

Ingredients                                     Quantity
For Rasam powder
Chana dal                                   1tsp + ½ tsp
Urad dal                                     1tsp + ½ tsp
Cumin seeds                              ½ tsp + ½ tsp
Whole coriander seeds                  ½ tsp
Whole fenugreek seeds                 ¼ tsp
Whole black pepper seeds            1tsp
Whole red chilies                     2-3no. + 2-3no.
Whole Cinnamon                         ½ inch

For rasam
Chopped tomato                         1cup
Tamarind paste                           2tsp
Water as required
Turmeric powder                        ¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Oil                                               1tsp
Hing                                            1tsp
Mustard seeds                           1tsp
Chopped garlic 1tsp
Chopped green chilies 1tsp
Chopped onions ½ no.
Curry leaves 10-15no.
Rasam powder 1tbsp
Chopped coriander 1 ½ tbsp

Method:-
1. Dry roast chana dal, urad dal, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds, whole black pepper seeds, whole red chilies, whole cinnamon and grind it in mixture
2. Now in the pan add chopped tomato, tamarind paste, water, turmeric powder and salt to taste and let it cook properly till the tomatoes are cooked.
3. Mash the tomatoes with the help of a masher and let it cook again.
4. Now in other pan add oil, Hing, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, whole red chilies, urad dal, chana dal, chopped garlic, chopped green chilies and sauté it for 2 mins.
5. Now add chopped onions and curry leaves and sauté it properly.
6. Now add the rasam in it and rasam powder and mix it properly.
7. Let it cook for 8-10 mins while it is covered.
8. Now add chopped coriander and boil it again.
9. Adjust the consistency of the rasam.
10. Our tomato pepper rasam is ready.
11. Serve hot.
