Recipe Description

Punjabi’s are know for their delicious sweet recipes. Some of the best Baisakhi recipes that are prepared for this festival are Moong dal halwa.
Method:
step1: Grind the soaked moog dal without water. Moog dal paste should be coarse or smooth.
step 2 : Heat the 2 cups of water, Add 2 tbsp of sugar.( you can choose to add bit of milk to clean the sugar)
Step 3: As it starts boiling, add 1 tbsp cardamom powder, add saffron.
step 4: you will notice the saffron color. as sugar melts, keep aside the sugar syrup.
Step 4: heat 3tbsp ghee in a pan, Add moog dal paste and stir continuously as you add the paste, to avoid formations of lumps.
Step 5: keep roasting the mixture turns light brown.
step 6: Add 1/4 cup assorted nuts, stir it well
Step 7: Add sugar syrup
Step 8: cook on high heat till the halwa absorbs the sugar syrup.
Step 10: Add khoya 1/2 cup, mix well.
step 11: Spray saffron as you serve and enjoy your moong dal halwa.
