Recipe Description

Hariyali dal

Ingredients                              quantity
Tuvar dal (soaked)                  ¼ cup
Masoor dal (soaked)                ¼ cup
Arhar dal (soaked)                    ¼ cup
Green chilli slits                        4 nos
Tomatoes chopped                   1 nos
Amaranth leaves                       1 bunch
Fenugreek leaves                      1 bunch
Spinach leaves                          1 bunch
Water                                         as required
Salt                                             to taste
turmeric powder                         1 tsp
fenugreek seed                          1 tsp
oil                                               1 ½ tbsp
asafetida                                    ½ tsp
cumin seed                                1 tsp
mustard seed                             1 tsp
garlic chopped                           8-10
cloves curry leaves                    8-10 nos
onion chopped                           2 nos
ginger julienne                           1 inch
coriander leaves                        1 tbsp

method :
1. In a pressure cooker add tuvar dal , masoor dal , arhar dal along with the water it was soaked. Add green chilly slits , tomato , amaranth leaves , fenugreek leaves , spinach , water , salt and turmeric powder mix it well .
2. Add fenugreek seed mix it well & close the lid & keep it for about 5-6 whistle .
3. Initial 2 whistle shall be on high flame , rest of 4 whistle should be on low flame .
4. Allow it to cool down , keep aside .
5. Heat Oil in deep Kadai & add asafetida , cumin seed , mustard seed & Saute till cumin splutter .
6. Add chopped garlic and saute for 1 min.
7. Then add curry leaves sauté it well for 30 seconds .
8. Now add chopped onion sauté it for 3-4 mins on a low flame .
9. Mean while open the pressure cooker , using wooden churner , mash the dal mixture thoroughly .
10. Once onions are light brown in colour , add ginger juliennes and mixture of dal , mix it well .
11. Now cook it for 4-5 mins , bring a boil , add coriander leaves , & mix well .
12. Transfer it to serving bowl & Serve hot .
