Ingredients quantity
Tur dal soaked 1cup
Moong dal soaked ½ cup
Salt 1 ½ tsp+ to taste
Turmeric powder 1tsp
Water 3cup
Ghee 1tbsp+ 1tbsp
Hing 1tsp+ a pinch
Mustard seeds 1tsp+ ¼ tsp
Cumin seeds 1tsp+ ¼ tsp
Ginger chopped 1tbsp
Garlic chopped 1tbsp+ 1tsp
Green chilies chopped 4-5 no.
Curry leaves 7-8no.
Onion chopped 1no.
Tomatoes chopped 1no.
Red chili powder 1tsp+ ¼ tsp
Garam masala 1tsp
Coriander chopped 2tbsp
Whole red dry chilies 2no.
Method
- First soak the both the dal for 1 to 2 hours and then boil it by adding salt, hing, turmeric powder and water mix it properly and cook till 3 whistle.
- Once dal is cooked, check it properly and mash it with a wooden stick and keep aside.
- Now in pan add ghee, hing, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and saute for a while.
- Now add green chilies and saute it again.
- Now add curry leaves and saute again.
- Now add chopped onions and saute for 2-3 mins on high flame.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and salt and saute again properly for 2-3 mins.
- Now add red chili powder, garam masala powder and saute again for 1min.
- Now add the boiled dal in it and cook it properly for 5-6 mins.
- Now add chopped coriander in it and mix again.
- Our dal is ready serve it in a bowl.
- For dal tadka, take a nonstick pan add ghee, hing, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chili powder, whole red dry chilies, chopped garlic and saute it properly.
- Now add the tadka on the dal.
- Our dal fry and dal tadka is ready to serve
