Easy and tasty dal recipe from gujarat

Ingredients

  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Cloves – 2-3 no
  • Cinnamon stick – ¼ inch
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Ginger Chopped – ½ tsp
  • Garlic chopped – ½ tsp
  • Green chilli chopped – 2 no
  • Onion chopped – 1 small
  • Tomatoes chopped – 1small
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Raw peanut – 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder – ¼ tsp
  • Tovar dal soaked – 2 cup
  • Water – 1 ½ cup
  • Jaggery – 1 tbsp

 

Method:-

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker add clove, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds and mustard seeds and sauté.
  2. Add chopped ginger, garlic, green chilli and sauté.
  3. Then add chopped onion and sauté .Add chopped tomatoes, salt and sauté until tomatoes are mashed.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander cumin powder, raw peanuts and garam masala powder and sauté.
  5. Add little water and allow the masala to cook.
  6. Add soaked Tovar dal and water mix. Add jaggery and cover and cook for 2-3 whistle.
  7. Lastly add chopped coriander and remove it in a serving bowl and serve hot.
