Recipe Description

This is a very healthy and delicious Indian recipe prepared with oats.bisi bele bath is a very popular dish of Karnataka

Ingredients:-

  • For rice
  • Brown basmati rice soaked – 1cup
  • Split Bengal gram boiled -1 1/2cup
  • tomatoes chopped  – 1 medium
  • salt  – to taste
  • For masala 
  • Oil  – 1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Corainder seeds -1 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds -½ tsp
  • Split Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds  – ¼ tsp
  • Cloves –  2
  • Cinnamon stick –  ½ inch
  • Dried red Chilles – 4
  • Green Cardamom  – 2
  • mustard seeds  – ¼ tsp
  • Poppy seeds  -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder –  ¼ tsp
  • Rice – 1 tsp
  • Black peppercorn  – ½ tsp
  • Dried grated coconut – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves  – 8-10
  • Salt – to taste
  • For bisibille bhaat
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida –  a pinch
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds –  ½
  • Dried red chilies – 3
  • Curry leaves  – 8-10
  • onion chopped – 1 small
  • Carrots cubed – 1 cup
  • French beans chopped  – 1 cup
  • Potato boiled  – 1 medium
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt  – to Taste
  • Oats – 3 tbsp
  • Tamrind pulp -1 tbsp
  • Grated jaggery – 1 tbsp
  • Method:-
  1. In a pan add rice, dal tomatoes , salt, water and cover and cook .
  2. . in another pan heat oil add all the ingredients under masala and roast until fragrant and grind it with powder and keep aside
  3. Heat oil in another pan . Add hing , cumin seeds  mustard seeds and as they splutter, add curry leaves , red chilli and mix.
  4. Add chopped onions and sauté for 4 mints. Add carrot, french beans and saute for 1 mint. Add potato ,turmeric powder 1 1/2 tbsp prepared masala, salt and mix well.
  5.  Add cooked dal and rice and mix . Then add oats ,tamarind extract , jaggery and cook it on a low flame until oats  is completely cooked . Turn off heat and remove onto a serving bowl and serve hot .
