Recipe Description

An interesting recipe made with Turai (sponge gourd )

Ingredients :-

  • Sponge gourd skin – 1 cup
  • Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Onion chopped – 1 medium
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Salt – to taste
  • Roasted chana dal (dalia) – 2 tablespoons
  • Tamarind pulp – 1 teaspoon
  • coriander powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • For tempering
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves – 7-8

Method:-

  1. Heat oil in a pan add in the Green chilli, chopped onion and sauté well.
  2. Add in the sponge gourd peel and sauté well.
  3. Add in roasted chana dal, red chilli, and coriander powder, salt and mix well.
  4. Add in water and cook until the peel is soft.
  5. Now add in tamarind pulp and mix well.
  6. Grind it into fine paste, remove it in a bowl and keep aside.
  7. Heat oil in a pan adds in mustard seeds, curry leaves and sauté.
  8. Now add this mixture on the chutney and mix well.
  9. Remove it in a bowl and serve.
