Recipe Description

Tomato Chutney Bengali Style

Ingredient                                                      Quantity

Tomato chopped                                             3 large

Mustard Oil                                                     1 tbsp

Cumin seeds                                                    1 tsp

Aniseeds                                                          1 tsp

Onion seeds (kalonji)                                      1 tsp

Mustard seeds                                                 1 tsp

Fenugreek seeds (Methi Dana)                      1 tsp

Ginger chopped                                              1 tbsp

Salt                                                                  to taste

Red chilli powder                                             ½ tsp

Black Salt                                                          ¼ tsp

Jaggery                                                              3 tbsp

 

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add cumin seeds, aniseeds, onion seeds, mustard seeds and methi Dana, stir well and sauté till its splutters.
  3. Add chopped ginger and mix well.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, mix well and cook for 3-4 min. or till tomatoes become pulpy.
  5. Add salt, red chilli powder, black powder and jaggery, mix well and cook till jaggery melts.
  6. Remove in the serving bowl and serve hot.
