Notun gurer payesh traditional bengali rice pudding
Ingredients:-
- Grated palm jaggery (notun gur) – 1 cup
- Milk – 3 litres
- Basmati rice, soaked – 2 tablespoons
- Bay leaf – 1 no
- Green cardamoms – 5-6 no
- Almonds, blanched and sliced – 10 no
Method:-
- Boil milk in a non stick deep pan. Reduce heat and simmer till it thickens slightly.
- Add the drained rice and stir. Add the bay leaf, green cardamoms and continue to simmer on low heat till the rice is completely cooked.
- Remove the bay leaf. Add the jaggery and almonds and simmer for further five minutes.
- Chill and serve.
