Recipe Description

Notun gurer payesh traditional bengali rice pudding

Ingredients:- 

  • Grated palm jaggery (notun gur) – 1 cup
  • Milk – 3 litres
  • Basmati rice, soaked – 2 tablespoons
  • Bay leaf – 1 no
  • Green cardamoms – 5-6 no
  • Almonds, blanched and sliced – 10 no

 

Method:-

  1. Boil milk in a non stick deep pan.  Reduce heat and simmer till it thickens slightly.
  2. Add the drained rice and stir.  Add the bay leaf, green cardamoms and continue to simmer on low heat till the rice is completely cooked.
  3. Remove the bay leaf.  Add the jaggery and almonds and simmer for further five minutes.
  4. Chill and serve.
