Recipe Description

This is a simple Mutton curry the way my father used to make.

 

Ingredient                                                      Quantity

Oil                                                                    1 Tbsp + 1 Tbsp

Bay leaf                                                             2 nos

Cinnamon                                                         1 Inch

Clove                                                                 2-3 nos

Peppercorn                                                       1 tsp

Coriander seeds                                               1 tsp

Cumin seeds                                                    1 tsp

Onion slices                                                     2 medium

Mutton                                                             250 gms

Salt to taste

Water                                                               2 cups

Red chilli powder                                             1 ½ tsp

Coriander powder                                           1 ½ tbsp.

Turmeric powder                                             ½ tsp

Garam masala                                                1 tsp

Cumin powder                                                  1 tsp

Ginger juliennes                                               1 inch

Ginger garlic paste                                           1 tbsp

Potatoes cubes                                                2 large

Coriander chopped                                         1 tbsp

Mint sprig for garnish

 

Method

  1. In a pressure cooker heat oil, add bay leaf, cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, coriander seeds, Cumin seeds and sauté for 1 mins
  2. Add sliced onions , mutton, salt , water and pressure cook on a medium flame for 8 whistles.
  3. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, Garam masala, cumin powder , ginger juliennes, ginger garlic paste, potatoes cubes. Mix well and cook for 8-10 mins on medium flame.
  4. Add 1 tbsp oil, coriander chopped. Mix well
  5. Remove in serving bowl, garnish with mint sprig and serve hot.
