Recipe Description

Moong dal with bottle gourd (Lauki) is a unique wholesome recipe done in various styles in India, however this is something which is perfect Maharastrian style – spicy, hot and tasty. This wholesome food has health benefits too apart from being quick and easy and will surely remain in your weekly menu.

Ingredients:

  • Lauki (bottle gourd) cut in cubes – 1/2 nos
  • Moong dal soaked – 3 tbsp
  • Onion chopped – 1 nos
  • Tomato chopped – 1 nos
  • Coriander chopped – 2 tbsp
  • Green chilli chopped – 1 nos
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 8-10
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1-2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Hing – 1/2 tsp
  • water – as required
  • Asafoetida (Hing) – 1 tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp

 

How to make Moong dal & Lauki ki sabji (Method):
1) Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chilli, hing (Asafoetida), onion, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, coriander and red chilli powder, tomato, salt and saute for few minutes
2) Now add lauki and soaked moong dal,chopped coriander, let it cook for for 5 minutes
3) Now add water, cover the pan and cook for about 15- 20 minutes, remove on a plate and serve hot ..with roti or paratha.
