Recipe Description

A traditional dish cooked with raw mangoes in Maharashtra, eaten with parathas, bread and meals

Ingredients

  • Oi-1 Tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Raw mango – 1 large
  • Curry leaves – 8-10
  • Onion chopped – 1 small
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander powder-1 tsp
  • Jaggery-1 cup

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves. And sauté for ½ mins.
  2. Add in the chopped onion and sauté well. In a meanwhile cut mango with skin on into small cubes.
  3. As onions brown, Add ginger garlic paste and sauté well for 1 mins. Add in red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder and sauté well.
  4. Now add the jaggery and mangoes and sauté well till jaggery melts.
  5. Cover and cook it for 6-8 mins, keep stirring in between
  6. Once cooked remove it in a bowl cool it and have it.
